Every personal site needs a penguin in a position of unreasonable importance. This is mine. He has survived multiple redesigns, several "maybe I should make this more professional" phases, and at least one attempt to replace him with something more tasteful. He won every time.

The Cinema Problem

I have logged over 1,100 films on Letterboxd, which is either a hobby or a diagnosis depending on who's asking. Somewhere in there I came up with the term Narrative Dilution to describe what happens when a thing that used to mean something gets photocopied into merchandise. I wrote an entire essay about it.

The Wet Bird

In a McDonald's bag, beaten and gravy-soaked but somehow serene, I found a wet bird and, with it, several uncomfortable truths about agency, consumption, and fungibility. I gave it 8.5/10. It has since achieved a strange kind of sainthood on this site.
